Anna Marie Hales

Anna Marie served as chairman of the board of Align from its opening in April 2004 until April 2013. She can be relied upon to look at issues with a critical and fair point of view.

Anna Marie Hales, along with husband, Sloan, has owned and operated the Wyoming Hereford Ranch in southeast Wyoming since 1978. She is also a co-owner of the Yellowstone IMAX Theatre Venture.

In addition to the full-time effort involved in operating a working cattle ranch, Anna Marie demonstrates her passion for youth and culture through service on many boards of directors, including the Boy Scouts of America, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, the Laramie County Community College Foundation, the Brigham Young University Humanities Board, and the University of Wyoming American Heritage Center.

Anna Marie and Sloan are the devoted parents of six children and proud grandparents of 17 grandchildren. Her other life’s joys include music, serving the community and serving the church.

Anna Marie has an undergraduate degree in business from BYU and a master’s degree in business education from the University of Cincinnati.

James Murphy, P.E.

As one of The Align Team’s trusted advisors, Murph always applies “horse sense” to our discussions and decisions.

James “Murph” Murphy was born in the small farming and ranching town of Powell, Wyoming, along the northwestern edge of the Big Horn Basin. He graduated from Montana Tech in the rough and tumble town of Butte, Montana with a degree in Environmental Engineering then moved back to Wyoming to begin his professional career. During the last 30 years, Murph has specialized in complex mine land reclamation projects, managing large multi‐disciplinary teams of engineers, scientists and natural resource professionals.

Murph is a partner with AVI Engineers. In addition to the Align board, Murph also volunteers his time as a board member for Peak Wellness and Cheyenne LEADS, where he served as board chair.

He and his wife, Lisa, are committed to the Western way of life, working a small family ranch in Sowbelly Canyon, near Harrison, Nebraska and finding great comfort on the backs of their horses.
